kb PDF)
The Virginia Association of Zoning Officials (VAZO), in partnership
with Virginia Tech and Dr. Michael Chandler, offers two levels of certification
training and examination for persons employed as zoning professionals.
- The Certified Zoning Official (CZO) designation designation
is awarded to persons who receive a passing grade on an exam module
concerned with the legal aspects of zoning and the technical aspects
of zoning and zoning practices.
- The Certified Zoning Administrator (CZA) designation is
awarded to persons who successfully pass the aforementioned CZO exam
modules as well as an exam module concerned with management practices.
VAZO offers certification examinations twice per year in conjunction
with the annual VAZO spring and fall training conferences. VAZO also
offers an examination preparation class approximately two months prior
to the spring and fall exam dates. Persons interested in taking any combination
of the exam modules should give strong consideration to signing up for
the exam preparation course.
